Humble Beginnings
In the early 90s when I married and we purchased our first home, my parents urged my husband and I to discuss and document a Will for each of us.
When our first child was born, we reviewed our life situation and expanded our end-of-life plans to cover more extra comprehensive details.
Through these years, I have also been active in both my parents' personal end-of-life plans, and encouraged others to discuss and document basic end-of-life plans.
A continual process of updates to adapt to life’s changes is essential.
Family Life
& Values
In 2010, with six very young children and 20 years of marriage, my husband became unwell and passed away. As a grieving widow, I suddenly realised the true value of our meticulous end-of-life plans and was deeply grateful I was not left with a mess, amidst my season of grief.
I have been home-educating my 6 children over the past 23 years as a solo parent. Now I am a mother of six young adult children, and a grandmother of two.
My values are deeply rooted in my family legacy, and my continual prayers for my future generations reflect that commitment.
Hobbies & Interests
I'm an explorer at heart with a passion for camping and road trips to new townships and quiet places.
I look for opportunities to take photos of nature or people, to create fond memories for myself and family.
I’m energised and refreshed by ocean swims, beach walks, laughter and fresh food, firmly believing in the importance of healthy lifestyle choices.
Events in my life have inspired me to write a book, sharing my experiences of my husband’s passing, the season of grief, and the insight of end-of-life planning.
Support
& Guide
With compassion I have stood by numerous women, offering support and guidance through their husbands’ illnesses and their eventual passing. It’s a journey that’s never easy, but I’ve found that a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on can bring a ray of light even in the darkest times.
I've been told that my sense of humour and warm smile puts people at ease. I enjoy meeting new people, including those from diverse cultures and beliefs.
Hearing people's life stories is an opportunity to learn and grow and I have come to understand that end-of-life planning is deeply personal and influenced by one's values and faith.
Plan The
Journey
I am able to guide, listen to, and help you put together a personalised plan of your final wishes, making it less daunting and more manageable.
I'm not just someone who understands the theory of planning final wishes; I've lived it.
I've walked this path, experienced the wild emotional roller-coaster, and emerged with an understanding of the value and importance of having my wishes noted.
I have found a way to turn these life experiences into a source of support for others, so they also can have peace of mind and leave their family with clarity and direction.
Embrace
Tomorrow
Being a large family, I have developed skills for effective planning and organisation. These skills have also been used to lead community groups and functions.
When I have an important event the next day or over the next week, I like to plan, prepare and be organised.
I see it as embracing tomorrow's events - TODAY !
When we 'embrace tomorrow' with a well-thought out plan, we are living life with direction and clarity for ourselves and our loved ones: especially for end-of-life planning.
You see … helping people isn't just what I do - it's who I am.
